The UK is definitely not renowned for its tropical weather and so it is unsurprising that coats and anoraks appeared by the bucket load in the LFW spring/summer 2014 collections. Burberry in particular made the most out of our dreary weather (although that feels odd to say when I look out of the window to see pure blue skies), as models took to the catwalk in soft pastel coloured boyfriend cut coats.
There were gorgeous lilacs, pretty pinks, cool mints and, of course, the classic beige shade that just embodies Burberry in one expensively labelled nutshell. And whilst I wish I could afford the price tag, I am but a mere poor student who struggles even to buy from high street stores. It's a little pathetic. That said, I have hunted down two high street duplicates.
They may not be Burberry, but boy are they beautiful! At just shy of one hundred pounds, this wool coat from
Topshop encapsulates all the beauty of Burberry, yet taking on a more vibrant shade of pink.
New Look's own attempt to hit this spring/summer trend was not too shabby either, costing a modest £54.99. I'm sad to say that this is still a little too out of my price range.
Whilst I'll be braving the spring showers in my old parka from River Island, looking very much 'so last year three years ago', hopefully this has given you some ideas to brighten your wardrobe. Just don't tell me if you do buy one of these beauties, because I'll be insanely jealous.
