Back at the beginning of April, I wrote a post about how I was partaking in the #100happydays challenge and am now at the halfway mark. I thought it would be nice to show you just a select few of some of the moments I have captured that make me happy, and perhaps give some added explanation. You can see my #100happyday's in full on my instagram!
Thus far, my happiness has been captured in a whole abundance of different things, from predominantly spending time with people I love, to having wonderful experiences; blooming delightful food and the enjoyment I get out of certain hobbies and activities (wow that sounds suggestive, haha...).
I'm kind of proud in that a lot of these fond memories can be found in the company of others, and the appreciation of being lost in a good book; of being surrounded by love and feeling that same level of affection back. Yes, there has definitely been the odd foody picture here and there, but then doesn't that also, to a degree, stem from a bond you appreciate? I mean for me personally, I always associate my love for Nandos with my best friend Sarah. And (not pictured above) one of my #100happyday's was of a meal my mum cooked for me, which is everything that embodies 'home comfort'. And yes, I appreciated it and it made me happy because I was a little hungover and ready for a hearty meal, but that meal holds sentiment in its own right. And the steak... was just steak really; I can't blab my way through that one — that was one hundred percent greedy food porn.
Okay, so I got a bit overly analytical and deep there. But I definitely appreciate what this challenge has done for me so far. Although I can't say I've fallen in love yet, like some found through this challenge (lucky sods), I can say it has definitely made me more aware of what exactly triggers that smile. Increasingly, my pictures are of seemingly mundane things, but which often hold a lot more worth than you would think at first glance. E.g my room at home and my room at uni, a photo of my last ever essay for first year; a picture of blossom, of a daisy chain. This challenge has allowed me to see beauty in even the smallest of things. I'd like to think I was quite good at that already, but this definitely enhances that sight, and it is a wonderful gift to have.
