Sunday round-up #10

34

I'm back in the West Country, and the sun has been here to greet me — how wonderful! Much of this week was spent preparing to leave on Thursday evening, and making the most of the time we have left until September with friends. On Tuesday evening I went out with some of my uni friends, which was a great last night out for first year. My departure on Thursday felt very bittersweet. As much as I am excited about the next four months, it's a sad thought that I won't be seeing everyone at uni everyday like I'm used to, and that second year — I think — is going to be very different from year one.

Even so, it is good to be home. Yesterday I met up with three of my friends, one of which has been away in New York for the past eight months as an au pair. We spent the afternoon in a beautiful park, catching up and soaking up some of the lovely weather. (I've had to ditch my tights, it's that lovely!!)

The weekend was also really great, because my brother and his girlfriend were down for the weekend, and I haven't seen him since Christmas. It's very weird to think that I spent much of my childhood surrounded by my siblings, especially my brother who is one up from me. And now we go months and months without seeing each other. It makes for a great reunion, but it is also so odd to think how times have changed, and how grown up we have all become. If the picture above is anything to go by! I'm six months shy of joining them in their 'twenties', which is also another extremely frightening thought (but I'm sure I go on about that in a post going up next week — yay for repeating my future self!)

I really don't want the hot weather to go, although I've probably had a bit too much of it in such a short space of time (hello Rudolf the red nosed reindeer, you're early...). But it looks like the miserable rain might be returning again. Even so, I'm excited for the prospect of making plans next week, and seeing everyone. And, honestly, just relaxing after working pretty hard these past eight months. It definitely seems to have paid off.

Hope you all had a fabulous week!
