As some of you may have been aware, I went to Glastonbury Festival last week from Wednesday until Sunday, which sort of explains the lack of posts on here ('sort of' because I could have scheduled more if I had been more organised, oops). I thought I'd fill you all in on my experiences, but I've decided to split Glastonbury into three posts: the first covering the days prior to the acts starting, another all about who I saw including photos and videos for your wonderful eyes to feast upon, and then a third more photography based one featuring some of the pictures I took on my disposable camera. Just because otherwise you'll probably give up reading halfway through it'll be that long. So onto the first couple of days...
Once we'd arrived, dropped off our heavy bags at the tent and ceased to feel like pack mules, we headed up Pennard Hill to watch the sunset and take in the incredible view with a couple of cans in hand. The view is incredible — so much so that I found myself gazing out at it time and time again, especially as it began to get dark and the lights of the festival ground shone out.
Our first full day was spent exploring all the stalls and various fields and seeing what the festival had to offer, because, let me tell you, Glastonbury Festival is a lot more than just music. There is so much to see it is ridiculous! We also found and lounged in some hammocks, which was necessary because the amount of walking you do each day hurts. A lot. (My feet still scream at the thought of walking for more than ten minutes!!) In the evening, we went up the Ribbon Tower and saw more beautiful views of the festival ground. We then went to a cosy tent called the Big Easy, where there is an array of different instruments, and people basically pick a song and attempt to perform it. It was a lot of fun, and we all found ourselves singing Oasis ('Wonderwall', naturally).
That night we also went to the Silent Disco, which has to be one of the funnest things ever. For those of you who don't know — although I'm sure you all do — you get given wireless headphones with a choice of two stations to flick between. There were so many good tunes to dance to, including some golden oldies! 'Wrecking Ball' came on at one point, and of course all of my friends turned and sang to me — it was really something. They also played 'Do They Know It's Christmas?', which was confusing and amazing all at the same time. Whilst at Glastonbury, I heard Christmas songs twice. I'm not complaining, even if it was only June.
