Ignore my questionable title and bask in the burning, lightning bolt shaped light that is the Harry Potter tag. I saw it on Megan's blog, and I got that itching feeling in my fingers that meant I just had to give it a whirl too. Plus, it's been a little empty around here, so it's probably long since owed to you lovely readers who have stuck around through my tardiness. Without further ado, accio HP tag!
1. What is your favourite book?
The 'Half Blood Prince' is, without a doubt in my mind, my favourite book. It's always been an outstanding favourite for me, and I think it has all to do with how everything all sort of starts to fit together and make a lot of sense. Up until this point, the events — although of course important — all appear to follow the same formula of something bad happening that Harry has to solve by the end of the school year. In the 'Half Blood Prince', we learn all about horcruxes and why objects like Riddle's diary and so on are so very, very crucial to the story. Also, Slughorn. He's a fun character, am I right?
2. What is your favourite film?
I think probably the 'Goblet of Fire'. Seeing the Triwizard Tournament come to life from the pages was really exciting and (queue sickening gagging) magical. Also, there was huge anticipation surrounding finally seeing Voldemort in a semi-normal human form — I remember being super excited about that grand unveiling. I also really loved the last two. They were a real testament to the entire franchise.
3. What is your least favourite book?
Honestly, I don't think I have one. Each book is so integral to the plot.
4. What is your least favourite film?
'Half Blood Prince'. The film was absolutely pants, and, as my favourite book, I had such high hopes and it really let me down.
5. Which part of the books/films made you cry?
I'm trying so hard to think of things that happened early in the series that upset me, but I believe my emotions only really took a hit in the last few books. There were probably no tears (I'm not much of a crier surprisingly), but deaths like Dumbledore's and Dobby's were obviously hard. Lets not even talk about Fred. That scene of the Weasley twins on the roof just before the Battle of Hogwarts kicked off? Heartbreaking.
6. If you could hook up with any character who would it be?
The guy who plays Dean is really cute, so him. I also had a gigantic soft spot for Draco, especially in 'Half Blood Prince'. That may of had something to do with Tom Felton in that film though...
7. Who is your favourite character?
Ron. Honestly, it's hard to pinpoint just one — I love so many of the characters J. K. created for us, but Ron is just funny and bloody brilliant.
8. Who is your least favourite character?
I'm going to have to agree with Megan and say Umbridge. Of course. Although if any of you have watched AVPM/AVPS, then you'll know that that Umbridge is kind of my spirit animal. Then there's Ginny.
9. What is your least favourite line?
"We could have been killed, or worse. Expelled." I mean, probably not seriously my least favourite. But as a kid, watching that first film and hearing that used to grate on me so much. My younger self constantly questioned Hermione's priorities. Obviously it became a quality in Hermione that I grew to love.
10. What would your patronus be?
Generic answer probably, but a cat. I love cats, cats make me happy. If I could be an animal, I would be a cat. So... cat.
11. If you could have the invisibility cloak, resurrection stone or elder wand, which would you choose?
Elder wand.
12. What house would you be in?
According to so many of those online quizzes and Pottermore, Gryffindor. I'll take it!
13. If you could meet any member of the cast who would it be?
You know it's going to be Emma Watson, right?
14. If you were on the Quidditch team, what position would you play?
I suck at sports, but I'd like to hope that in the wizarding world it would be an entirely different story. I'm going to go with a chaser.
15. Were you happy with the ending?
I think so, yes. Although film Ginny kind of ruined that aspect of things for me. I did not like Bonnie Wright's acting at all, although I understand why she was cast initially.
16. How much does Harry Potter mean to you?
Put it this way, I'm not much of a re-reader when it comes to books, but I could read those books a hundred times over. Same goes for the films — even the disappointing ones. They were my childhood, and they've carried on, finding a place in my period of life as a young adolescent and onwards I'm sure until I'm very, very old and frail.
Potterheads, get on this and let me see your answers!
